It is never easy to make a decision about a burial site. Leaving that decision to others may make it even harder.
The Catholic Cemetery Association of Peoria ("CCA") provides this information to assist a family or an individual needing to prepare for a death.
CCA provides a variety of choices for burial. These choices include:
1. Traditional (in-ground) Burial,
2. Lawn Crypt (in-ground) Burial (for up to two caskets),
3. Mausoleum Crypt (entombment), and
The cost of the service to open and close the grave is called the interment fee. The vault and headstone are not included in these prices.
The CCA also provides the choice of Lawn Crypt burial in each of our cemeteries. A Lawn Crypt is a non-sealing concrete box that allows placement of two caskets in one burial site.
A concrete partition separates the caskets, one on top and one on the bottom. This type of burial package eliminates the need to purchase a vault and includes the headstone.
The price for this type of burial begins will include interment fees for two and a headstone for two. Resurrection Cemetery offers three special areas for this type of burial. The Stations of the Cross, the Prayer Shrines, and the Scripture Shrines.
A second option the CCA offers is Double Depth burial via stacking vaults. This option is available at St. Joseph and St. Mary Cemeteries and Resurrection Cemetery Station XIII. Each grave site is designed to allow two vaults in a single burial space. The price for this option includes two interment fees and a headstone. The vaults are different than Lawn Crypts and are purchased from the funeral home. The first vault purchased for Double Depth burial is purchased from the funeral home of the customer's choice and must be at least a Titan, Oxford, Monticello Vault or above.
Mausoleum Crypt Burial (entombment)
Visitors have said that CCA has the most beautiful Mausoleum south of Chicago. Our carpeted Mausoleum has its own Chapel, is climate controlled all year long and has exterior crypts in two courtyards.
We are open every day of the year for visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The current facility is on its sixth phase and the present capacity is over 5000 entombment sites.
Burials are done in Crypts inside and outside of the Mausoleum. Crypts are available for single and double occupancy. Mausoleum entombment also eliminates the need for a vault or headstone. The front of the Crypt is lettered with the name(s) of those buried there and serves as the memorial. We also offer a variety of bronze emblems and photo cameos for the front of the crypt.
