What is your decision about where you want to be buried? Do you want to leave that decision to others?
The Catholic Cemetery Association of Peoria (CCA) can assist you in making a plan for pre-need whether it's for the family or for an individual.
A variety of choices for burial include:
1. Traditional (in-ground) Burial
2. Lawn Crypt (in-ground) Burial (up to two caskets)
3. Mausoleum Crypt (entombment) and
4. Cremation ( in-ground, in-niche or 2 to 3 person vertical columbarium or bench )
As private owners of three cemeteries, St. Mary’s, St. Joseph’s and Resurrection Cemetery, the CCA has ample space to provide for a traditional in-ground burial.
The cost of the service to open and close the grave is called the interment, a fee that can be pre-paid. The vault and headstone are not included in the price of a grave site.
The CCA also offers the choice of Lawn Crypt burial in each of our cemeteries. A Lawn Crypt is a non-sealing concrete box that allows placement of two caskets in one grave site.
A concrete partition separates the caskets, one on top and one on the bottom. The lawncrypt is a burial package that eliminates the need to purchase a vault and includes a headstone with engraving. The price includes interment fees for two and the headstone for two. Resurrection Cemetery has three locations for this type of burial: The Stations of the Cross with a bronze headstone, Prayer Shrines, and Scripture Shrines, both with a slant headstone.
Another option is a Double Depth burial using stacking vaults. The Double Depth is available at St. Joseph and St. Mary Cemeteries and Resurrection Cemetery Station XIII. Each grave site is designed to allow two vaults in a single burial space. The package includes two interment fees and a headstone. Vaults are different than Lawn Crypts and are purchased from the funeral home. The first vault purchased for Double Depth burial is purchased from the funeral home of the person's choice and must be at least a Titan, Oxford, Monticello Vault or above.
Mausoleum Crypt (entombment) Burial
Burials, known as entombments, are done in Crypts inside and outside of the Mausoleum. Crypts are available for single and double occupancy. Mausoleum entombment eliminates the need for a vault or headstone. The front of the Crypt is lettered with the name(s) of those entombed and serves as the memorial.
We also offer for purchase a variety of bronze emblems and cameos with photographs for the front of the crypt. The Mausoleum has a Chapel for Committal Services or Mass.
Open daily from 9 am to 4:30 pm, the Mausoleum is climate controlled all year long. Visitors have said that CCA has the most beautiful Mausoleum south of Chicago.
Cremation (in-ground, in-niche or in 2 to 3 vertical columbarium) Burial
Since 1983, the Roman Catholic Church has permitted cremation as an option for Catholics. In considering burial for cremains, we have various options from a niche at the Resurrection Mausoleum to one outside or in-ground burial. A "niche" is a small cubicle designed for one or two urns. The cost for a niche with choice inside the Mausoleum, a columbarium, a vertical family-owned columbarium, or bench includes inurnment fees and memorial.
